“I am very grateful to have learned so much about the human psyche and the power of minimalism from my mentor and former boss, American fashion designer Calvin Klein.”

DESIGNER

I aim for quiet beauty that’s alluring and awake. I’m very practical. I crave a room that fulfills its purpose delightfully and I’m very pleased when the end result is also sensual.

I’d like to think that thoughtfully designing a room for someone will allow them to access a place of deeper relaxation and personal comfort. Come sit in an area that I’ve arranged, and you will notice something in the room or within yourself that maybe you hadn’t noticed before.

“In 2020, we moved from New York City and Southampton, NY to live full-time in the idyllic, small town of Vero Beach, FL. Here I enjoy a slowed-down and more simplified life that is pleasantly restorative. I walk most places, have easy access to nature, and can even bike to work just up the road. Here I get to experience the concept of New Urbanism where art and architecture flourish in a completely design-driven and very unique residential sporting club community. What a treat and a treasure.”

Kevin Calica - Yoga Teacher

After 30 years working in highly competitive environments and industries in the USA, Europe, The Far East, and Asia Pacific I am cherishing a slower and more simplified life. I can ride my bike to work and have more physical space and comfortable weather year-round that allows me access to nature where I can most sublimely connect with my interior life. This is where I can best refine my yoga practice.

The greatest gift of acquiring my Yoga Teaching Certification is being able to share what I have learned from all the teachers, guides, mystics, and wonderful hearts who I have encountered on my decades-long inward journey. I love designing classes and workouts for clients who are searching for a way to bring harmony, strength and balance to their lives and for their bodies.

“Living Simplified is my way of navigating the world: my work, my home, and myself.”

AUTHOR

I am the author of Strength & Simplicity: 100 Ways to Live Your Life as Art. I am a storyteller – both off and on the page. When I write, I am careful and measured, always listening for the music beneath the words. I pray that one day I can say the same for my speech.

Through the form of my daily Instagram posts, I articulate my love of beauty and order. I always pair extreme practicality and beauty punctuated with resourceful ways to enjoy the power of slowing down and simplifying everything we do. Living Simplified is my way of navigating the world: my work, my home, and myself.

“1 on 1 training is about accountability. Making yourself a priority is a luxury, and this privilege will always yield positive results.”

What better way to be a teacher than to be a student! Having never had the comfort level to play sports as a child I realized much later in life that athleticism came very naturally to me and the fire of this awareness paired with the noticeable changes in my mid-50s, post-pandemic body drew me to move beyond the one-pointedness of my decades-long Hatha Yoga practice into the pursuit of science-based methods of Fitness and Wellness through the National Academy of Sports Medicine CPT program (certified personal trainer). This rest as the saying goes “is HIStory”.

“Quieting the body is the first step and the second step - quieting the mind will then follow very naturally. When my mind is quiet I feel strong.”

I was always flummoxed. Life often seemed challenging and the world impossible. One of my big difficulties was reading and at age 16 at the suggestion of my high school English teacher, I began to meditate where for the first time I was able to quiet my mind long enough to be able to complete the assigned readings. Later, in college, I found that retaining information related to visual images I saw in Art History classes was easier than in any of my other subjects.

These experiences fueled my desire to pursue a career in the arts and it also revealed a powerful longing for peace inside myself which had eluded me until 1992 when I encountered the head of the Siddha Yoga lineage, renowned meditation master, Gurumayi Chidvalasanda.

“We have theories of quantum physics and ancient scriptures from all faiths that guide us toward looking after ourselves yes, but also they commission us to take care of our neighbors.”

In my early 20s, when I set out on my “own”, I had more time than money, and so I offered my time. As I grew my career, I grew my commitment to offering and I watched my time diminish. So goes life!

By the dawn of the millennium, I had dedicated 11% of each of my annual net earnings to organizations that help humanity, and to this day, that vow remains in place. This is the anchor to my boat.
